Man Allegedly Kills, Buries Lover In LagosA 29-year-old man, Segun Titilayo has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos Police Command for allegedly killing and burying his lover in the state.

The deceased, 26-year-old Oritoke Manni, who was a bar attendant at KC Hotel, Apakin Town in Lekki, was declared missing last month after she was said to have gone to Titilayo’s house.

Titilayo allegedly called Manni to come to his residence at 29, Otulu Town, Lekki but never returned, TheNation reports.

Subsequently, a missing person report was filed at the police station and a search commenced. However, there was no trace of her until November 7 when her decomposing body was excavated by a Caterpillar at Adron Homes construction site in Otulu.

During the course of investigation, police found out that Titilayo went to the deceased’s place of work to ask after her, a move considered as a possible cover-up for the alleged crime.

Confirming the suspect’s arrest on Thursday, spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said an engineer, David Adegbago, of Adron Homes and Properties, reported to the Police Station at Akodo that while the company was excavating its site at Otolu Town, their Caterpillar exhumed a decomposing corpse.

He expressed;

The police detectives swung into action and the corpse was identified by the staff of the hotel to be Oritoke’s. The corpse was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy.

The police placed a manhunt on the suspect and he was arrested. He is being detained at the SCID Panti and giving useful information to help the police investigation.

Adejobi stressed;

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has condemned the crime and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID, DCP Yetunde Longe to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.

CP Hakeem Odumosu cautions the youths, especially ladies, against keeping unscrupulous and destructive friends. He also encourages Lagosians to promote moral values and shun crimes and criminality.

Sources however said the suspect denied killing the lady, adding that he claimed to have given her money to buy foodstuffs but she never came back.
