Real Madrid Defender, Eder Militao Tests Positive For COVID-19 Ahead Of Champions League Clash With Inter MilanReal Madrid have announced that its defender, Eder Militao has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of their Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

The Spanish club confirmed the test results of the 22-year-old Brazilian on Monday, just a day before hosting the Italian side.

Real Madrid also stated that that no other positive results were recorded from the latest round of testing except Militao.

A statement from Madrid reads;

Real Madrid would like to inform that our player, Eder Militao, has tested positive in the COVID-19 tests carried out yesterday, Sunday morning.

All the other players and the technical staff from the first team, as well as all the employees of the club who work directly with them, tested negative in that same test.

The club would like to confirm once again that everyone, with the exception of Eder Militao, tested negative in the antigen tests carried out that same morning.

Militão, who was part of Real Madrid’s team that beat SD Huesca 4-1 on Saturday in La Liga, will undergo a period of self-isolation as stipulated in Spanish health guidelines.

His absence worsens Real Madrid’s situation ahead of Tuesday’s game, with Dani Carvajal, Alvaro Odriozola and Nacho Fernandez also sidelined due to injury.

Militao will also sit out Madrid‘s trip to the Mestalla to face Valencia on Sunday, and will have to post a negative test before their next La Liga clash against Villarreal on November 21.

The 13-time UCL Champions are rooted at the bottom of Group B with one point from two games, three points behind table toppers Shakhtar Donetsk.
