Edo Governorship Poll: Court Disqualifies Ize-Iyamu’s Running Mate, Audu Ganiyu

Edo State High Court sitting in Benin has on Wednesday nullified the candidacy of Audu Ganiyu, running mate of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19, 2020, governorship election.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was defeated by by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Peoples Democratic Party.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kadiri Oshoakhemhe, had in a suit No: B/358/20 filed a case against Ganiyu whom he said was not qualified to contest the election.

He had asked the court to disqualify Ganiyu on the grounds of “giving false information” to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Delivering judgment in Benin City, the presiding judge, Justice H.A Courage-Ogbebor, said Ganiyu presented false information to INEC in his Form EC9.
