Thomas Markle has been pictured delivering a letter to Oprah Winfrey’s house, asking for a one on one sit-down interview with the US TV host, list like his daughter, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry recently did.
He drove up to Winfrey’s house in Montecito, California, and personally handed the letter to a security guard on Thursday, March 25, TheSun reports.
The 76-year-old, who made the 1,000-mile trip from his house in Rosarito, Mexico, wants to tell his side of the story, a month after his estranged daughter Meghan, who hasn’t spoken to him in years, sat down with Winfrey.
According to The Sun, a source said;
Thomas delivered a letter to Oprah asking her to contact him so he could tell his side of the story. This was not a note to Meghan and Harry, it was meant for Oprah.
Thomas watched the interview she did with them and feels he deserves a chance to have his say.
In visiting Oprah’s enormous estate, Thomas will have travelled very close to Prince Harry and Meghan‘s property, which is a mile down the road.
It is unlikely he will have dropped by however, given the bad blood that is said to exist between him and his daughter.
Thomas was not invited to Meghan’s wedding and it is believed he has not spoken to her in three years.
During her interview with Oprah, Meghan spoke of how hurt she was when she discovered her dad had been working with the press.
Meghan discussed her strained relationship with her dad, saying;
I mean, I’ve lost my father. I lost a baby. I nearly lost my name. I mean, there’s the loss of identity. But I’m still standing, and my hope for people in the takeaway from this is to know that there’s another side.
She said she found it difficult to describe his actions, adding: “I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child.”
Thomas leaked part of a letter that Mehgan had sent after her 2018 wedding to the press.
The Duchess of Sussex then won a court case against Associated Newspapers for publishing it, citing breach of copyright and misuse of her private information.
Following Meghan’s bombshell interview, Thomas wasted no time in airing his grievances, appearing on Good Morning Britain the day after the programme aired.
He shared his desire to reconcile with his daughter and grandchild during an interview with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
Thomas admitted that he did lie to Meghan about working with the press back in 2018 – which she had also confirmed in her Oprah tell-all.
He said;
I’m the one who released the letter, part of the letter. That was because a magazine was doing a story about me. Meghan’s friends were telling a story about me, they were mostly lies, and after reading these things – these lies – I said, ‘I have to retaliate.’ By retaliating, I released part of the letter.
Now, Thomas hopes to use the interview platform to speak his own truth and possibly hope to reconcile with his daughter.
