Renowned artiste, 2baba Ididbia has called out Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for causing discomfort for Nigerians returning into the country with regards to COVID-19 test result.
According to the singer, real name Innocent Idibia, NCDC officials are frustrating Nigerians with its unprofessionalism and poor work ethics.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, 2baba who appeared to be out of the country, made particular reference to the website of the center.
He also accused NCDC staff of never being available to pick up calls when Nigerians who need their assistance try to reach them.
2baba mentioned that some Nigerians are stranded at the airport because they cannot access the NCDC website or staff to help them generate a QR code that will validate their COVID-19 test results.
According to an advisory travel statement on NCDC’s website, passengers without a Permit to Travel/QR code may face longer delays before arriving or departing the country.

According to NCDC’s travel advisory, the following steps have to be followed before exiting a country.
I. Pre-Boarding
STEP 1 – A passenger must perform a COVID-19 PCR test not more than 4 days (96 hours) before boarding.
STEP 2 – All intending passengers (including diplomats and children less than 10 years old) must register via an online national travel portal and proceed to fill in the online Health Declaration/Self-Reporting form located on the portal.
STEP 3 – Passengers will the. be directed to upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test on to the portal. Once this is successfully done, they will proceed to the payment section of the travel portal.
STEP 4 – On reaching the payment section of the portal, passengers will be requested to select their preferred Laboratory/Sample Collection Centre based on where they will be self-isolating at Day-7 of arrival in Nigeria.
STEP 5 – Following successful payment, passengers are expected to download the Permit to Travel Certificate/ QR Code using the “Get Permit to Travel” button visible at the top right corner of the portal, save and print the form for presentation at the point of boarding.
A copy of the Permit to Travel Certificate/QR Code will also be sent to the email address provided by the passenger.
II. Boarding
Prior to boarding for Nigeria, passengers must present two documents at their point of departure to be allowed to board;
– A negative COVID-19 PCR test administered within 4 days (96 hours)
– Permit to Travel Certificate/QR Code.
However, in 2baba’s case as well as for other stranded Nigerian passengers, they were yet to receive the Permit to Travel Certificate/QR Code, even after paying a sum of N50,000 for COVID-19 test.
