Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 423 new COVID-19 cases as total toll surpasses 47,000 on Tuesday, August 10.
This comes four days after the country recorded over 46,000 coronavirus infections. Between August 8 and August 11, 1,150 new cases were recorded.
In the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter, there are now;

It would be recalled that on Monday, the country’s total coronavirus was 46,867 total cases, 33,346 recoveries and 950 deaths across the country.
With the new toll, there are now 47,290 total cases, 33,609 recoveries and 956 death cases across the country.
Also, with NCDC’s August 10 situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 319,815 to 321,951.
Meanwhile, Russia has approved ‘world’s first’ coronavirus vaccine developed jointly by Gamaleya Research Institute and the country’s Defence Ministry.

President Vladimir Putin announced this during a live teleconference with his cabinet ministers on Tuesday, August 11.
Putin said;
A vaccine against coronavirus has been registered for the first time in the world this morning. I know that it works quite effectively, it forms a stable immunity.
So we’re the first to have registered. I hope our foreign colleagues’ work will move as well, and a lot of products will appear on an international market that could be used.
Clinical trials of the vaccine began on June 18 and included 38 volunteers. All of the participants developed immunity. The first group was discharged on July 15 and the second group on July 20.
