However, the rapper’s manager and long-time friend, Steve Rifkind shared a statement on Instagram saying that the rapper is still alive and on life support, adding that the family is expected to make a statement today, April 9.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a video where he said;
Everybody, please stop posting these rumours. DMX is still alive. Yes, he is on life support but please, it’s not helping anybody seeing these false rumours. Let the family relax for a night. You’ll be hearing a statement from the family sometime tomorrow. I’ve been with DMX for the past three years, so the only thing I ask is stop with the rumours. He’s still alive and he’s on life support.

It has been claimed the rumours were sparked by DMX’s friend, comedian Luenell, when she paid tribute to the rapper.
She wrote; “It is over. My friend is gone. Soar w/ the [birds]. Join the best that ever did it. RIP….. DMX”, in a now-deleted Instagram story.
The star later removed this post and clarified her words in another story, explaining;
When your spirit leaves and your organs fail you, the body becomes just a shell. One becomes wrapped in the Lord’s arms. That’s what “I” call gone. I’m sorry to all.
DMX has been battling for his life in hospital for a week, with fans and famous faces rushing to offer their well wishes on social media.
