Just In: Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Igboho Reportedly Arrested In Cotonou
Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, has reportedly been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
According to SaharaReporters, Igboho was nabbed in Cotonou, Benin Republic, in an attempt to flee to Germany.
Recall that Department of State Services (DSS) raided the residence of Igboho in Ibadan, Oyo state on July 1, killing two people, arresting 12 aides but Igboho escaped.

Igboho had planned a ”Yoruba nation rally” in Lagos two days before the raid.
Afterwards, DSS declared Igboho wanted, alleging that he was stockpiling weapons and ammunitions.
DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunnaya, had advised Igboho to turn himself in to the nearest security.

Afunnaya stated;
Those cheering and eulogizing him may appeal to or advice him to do the needful. He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law.
Sunday Igboho has been on the run since the raid.

The federal government had said the agitator was working at getting a new passport to flee the country for Germany.
Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) also placed a notice for his arrest across Nigerian borders.
According to ThePunch, he was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night, a top source familiar with the matter told our correspondent.

A source told the publication;
Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago. He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night. He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou. They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria.
DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, is yet to confirm Igboho’s arrest as at the time of filing this report.
